Cribs International is a small UK registered charity providing homes for refugee families in Greece who are dealing with pregnancy or a new baby under the dangerous and unsanitary conditions prevalent in refugee camps.
HOW DO THEY HELP?
Cribs provide safe housing and support in Greece for the families they work with. They make sure their families have access to education, health care and basic necessities. They try to provide “normality” – a safe and supported pregnancy, birth and family life.
HOW DO WE COLLABORATE?
We have committed to pay the rent for a Syrian family who are currently living in Athens. The father is a geography teacher, and the mother an Arabic teacher. The couple have 2 girls – twins who are currently breastfeeding. When funding allows – we will offer the team further support such as we did in October 2018 when we paid the rent for 6 families.
11/04/18- Earlier this year the Syrian family we were supporting were finally relocated to Germany, and we helped to fund their flights. A vulnerable Afghan family have since moved into the property. The couple have 3 boys- an 8 month old, 5 year old and 10 year old. The father was a mechanic in their homeland, and the family fled from Afghanistan due to the threat from the Taliban. They are dedicated to provide security, safety and education for their children and it’s been amazing to see their eldest boys Greek language blossom.
