We are really pleased that FORGE has been successful in a grant application which has meant that they are able to secure long term funding for their translator. We will stay in touch with the team to see if we can help again in the future.
FORGE for humanity is a small Spanish-registered non-profit providing support to the single male refugee population in Athens and the surrounding areas.
HOW DO THEY HELP?
FORGE provides a place where young single male refugees, asylum seekers and migrants in Athens can find assistance on their way towards their personal and professional goals.
This group of people suffers from the greatest marginalisation, whilst being the group with the most potential to contribute to society and economy.
FORGE’s help is based on individualized long term assistance, and concentrates on rekindling already existing motivations and determinations left aside by the difficulty of their beneficiaries circumstances. Through their four programs – psychosocial support, occupational assistance, housing (when available) and direct aid – they promote integration, help develop autonomy and stability, and the tools needed to reach independence from the social aid system.
HOW DO WE COLLABORATE?
We have committed to provide a stipend for the resident translator at the FORGE office, who translates between English and Farsi/Dari/Urdu/Pashto for FORGE’s participants, of which 89% speak one or more of those languages and require translation.
