ECHO100Plus is an Austrian charity that has a strong presence on Leros as well as in Athens with their centres called The Hub.
How Do They Help?
In Leros, The Hub building has been developed into an impressive facility for adult refugees and the unemployed and disadvantaged members of the Lerian community.
The Hub offers European language courses as well as developing existing skills and learning new ones. It also acts as a space of learning, creativity, community and social engagement. The team also provide and distribute essential aid to the community in the islands hotspot camp.
How Do We Collaborate?
We have been working closely with ECHO100Plus since 2016, and have developed a close partnership. This began with a hygiene kit program. The initiative ran successfully for 3 years or so. Tailor made packs of hygiene items were distributed to each family in Pikpa and Villa Artemis (shelters on the island for the vulnerable) on a bi weekly basis.
More recently as the situation on the island has evolved, we have supported ECHO100Plus by funding aid for distribution such as push chairs and baby items. We have also funded and supported grants to help The Hub provide the vital support that is making such a difference to so many people in need.
